About Us
The concept
Refresh Events is a Toronto-based community dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the technology and web industry through affordable, accessible and relevant programming. We provide digital workers, web designers, developers and other types with a launching pad for connecting to others and creating meaningful relationships.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide free or affordable programming through monthly gatherings and workshops led by industry experts, & help promote the talents of less established industry workers through speaking opportunities.
Vision
To support our mission statement, our vision for Refresh Events includes the expansion of our programming model to monthly gatherings and signature events, institute-based education, and conferences within other cities in Canada and the United States.

The Team

Justin Kozuch is the founder of Refresh Events, and works behind the scenes bringing together the most engaging and influential minds in Toronto’s vibrant technology scene. During the day, he can be found reading social media marketing blogs, promoting Refresh Events to the community, and networking with industry superstars. In a previous lifetime, he worked as an Interactive Developer, and worked with large brands such as RIM, the Wall Street Journal and Virgin Charter. -
Elaine Chen won four Shoppers’ Drug Mart colouring contests as a child and is consequently now a visual designer with 8 years experience in web and print. She is currently an Art Director at Sapient, working mostly in the financial, telco and mobile space. Previously she designed websites and created educational animations for the Ontario Science Centre. Elaine is Refresh Events’s pixel-pusher, grammar fascist, candy-buyer, cheerleader and sounding board. For more information about her, visit her site.
